Sohya Tas Kyoto

October 27, 2014

**Update : this shop is no longer in business**

Sohya Tas is a shop established by Chiso, one of the oldest yuzen dyeing companies in Kyoto (it was founded in 1555). Originally, Chiso was specializing in kimono dyeing, and now adapting to the modern way of life, it offers new items, such as silk stoles designed with both traditional and innovative patterns, furoshiki, accessories or paper goods.

Stoles of Chiso are made of top-quality raw silk, and they have large choice of design and colour. Each item is like a piece of art!

There is also Chiso Gallery exposing old kimonos and documents from the company’s collection. You will find both shop and gallery on the 2nd floor of the Chiso Building. On the first floor, you can enjoy a cup of green tea with Japanese sweets in Iyemon Salon, famous Kyoto café.
