6 reasons why Squarespace is the best website platform for your creative business

With so many website platforms and builders available out there, it may be quite overwhelming to choose one for your creative business. And if you have ADHD like me, the chances are that this overwhelm prevents you from taking action and finally creating a new (or upgrading already existing) online home for your brand.

After switching from WordPress to Squarespace and using it for my own and for my clients’ websites for almost 2 years now, I’m confident that it is indeed the best platform for services/portfolio websites, and I praise it using every chance I get. Here are the reasons why:

1// It’s design-forward and customisable

While the following reasons are no less important, we want our websites to be good-looking and reflect our unique style and vibe.

Squarespace is a beautiful design-forward platform, offering you an incredible degree of customisation and creativity to build your dream website, even without custom coding (and even more so with it!). With the Fluid Engine, its drag-and-drop website editor, it's easy to create a stunning site that is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices and stands out from the crowd. Whether you're an interior design studio owner, a creative professional, or an artist looking to make a statement, Squarespace has the resources to help you bring your vision to life.

2// It’s user-friendly

With its minimal user interface, Squarespace makes it easy to maintain your website, even if you have no tech experience. I don’t offer website maintenance services because I don’t need to - provided with customised video tutorials, my clients can manage their entire website from one dashboard, making it easy to keep it up to date and publish fresh blog posts themselves.

3// It's secure and reliable

Squarespace is built on a secure and reliable platform that is backed by a team of experts. You can rest assured that your website will be safe and secure and that it will remain up and running with minimal downtime. No need to pay any additional monthly fees for security plugins or stress about regularly updating the website’s backend - Squarespace runs all the updates in-house. Besides, its support team is always on stand-by to help you with any technical issues.

4// It’s a feature-rich, all-in-one platform

Squarespace provides an extensive range of features and tools that will help you make your website your most valuable employee. You can run all your bookings, appointment scheduling and invoicing through the platform, and even host a membership site or a course if needed. You can also add multilingual functionality, create multiple blogs and custom forms, upload or embed videos, and integrate other services such as Google Analytics, your favourite email marketing provider and payment processor. And I love how user-friendly, simple and effective its SEO (Search Engine Optimization) functionality is!

5// It has built-in e-commerce capabilities

I will compare Squarespace and Shopify platforms in an upcoming post but in short, depending on your e-commerce needs, Squarespace may well be enough for your business. It has great built-in e-commerce capabilities for selling your services, physical products and digital downloads.

6// It’s scalable & flexible

Lastly, Squarespace meets you where you are at your business right now. Just starting out with a minimal budget? Buy a premium template and DIY. Looking to grow, scale or pivot your biz? Hire a web designer & developer to craft you a custom website. Not sure if you’re ready to sell your creations online? Start with a simple portfolio website and add e-commerce later! Your website isn’t set in stone, it is a living and evolving tool that makes your business memorable and successful, at your own pace.

In conclusion, with its range of powerful features & capabilities, Squarespace helps you create and easily manage a professional-looking website that will make you stand out from the competition, impress your clients & customers and grow your online presence.
